Day 1: Lac de la Rosière → Refuge des Lacs Merlet

Distance: 8.46 km
Elevation gain: 891 m
Overnight stay: Refuge des Lacs Merlet
The trek begins at Lac de la Rosière, a turquoise gem nestled at the foot of the Dent du Villard cliffs. The trail follows the Avals stream, passing by the Cascade des Poux, before gradually ascending to the upper part of the Vallée des Avals.
After a steady climb, you will reach Refuge de Grand Plan, an ideal stop before tackling the ascent to the Lacs Merlet, surrounded by a breathtaking mineral cirque.

Day 2: Refuge des Lacs Merlet → Refuge du Saut
- Distance: 12.31 km

Overnight stay: Refuge du Saut
From Refuge des Lacs Merlet, the trail ascends towards Col de la Platta, then continues to Col de Chanrossa (2,520 m). From here, you are rewarded with panoramic views of the Vanoise glaciers and the Courchevel valley.
After a quick descent, the climb resumes towards Col du Fruit (2,510 m), offering a spectacular vista of Aiguille du Fruit and Grande Casse. The final stretch crosses the Vallon du Fruit, home to the enchanting Lac des Fées, before reaching Refuge du Saut, nestled in the heart of the Vanoise National Park.

Day 3: Refuge du Saut → Refuge de Grand Plan

Distance: 8.97 km

The morning ascent leads to Col de Chanrouge. The route then follows a scenic trail to Col du Râteau, the highest point of the day.
A technical descent brings you to Lac du Râteau, a secluded natural gem surrounded by impressive limestone cliffs. The trek continues towards Refuge de Grand Plan, where you will spend your final night in the mountains.

Day 4: Refuge de Grand Plan → Lac de la Rosière
Distance: 18.18 km
- Elevation gain: 976 m
Return to: Lac de la Rosière
This final day is one of the most spectacular of the trek, featuring ridge crossings with breathtaking views of the Alps.
The itinerary begins with the ascent of Col des Saulces, followed by Col de Mey. After traversing beneath Brèche Portetta, a series of switchbacks lead to Col de la Grande Pierre.
The trail then follows the Crêtes du Mont Charvet, before reaching Col de la Dent. The final stretch continues along an airy ridge to the summit of Dent du Villard, offering a panoramic view of Mont Blanc and the Vanoise.
The descent follows the Sentier des Pins, leading back to Lac de la Rosière, the trek’s starting point.
