NEW CHENUS GONDOLA: A FRESH WIND BLOWS THROUGH AN ICONIC LIFT

After 55 years of loyal service, the Chenus gondola in Courchevel 1850 is being completely revamped for winter 2025/2026. Designed by POMA, the new lift will feature 10-seater EVO 2 cabins and double its capacity to 2,400 people per hour. The route will remain close to the current one to minimise environmental impact, while introducing sustainable innovations:

400 m² of solar panels on the top station and a rainwater recovery system collecting 750 m³/year.

New departure station on the snow front to ease flow and reduce congestion at Les Verdons.

Enlarged arrival station with a picnic room, public toilets, and a logistics zone to limit use of snowmobiles and groomers.

Fewer pylons (11 instead of 15) and 8% energy savings.

With a €20 million budget, this project is a model of innovation and environmental responsibility, including biodiversity and landscape protection measures.

RHODOS GONDOLA RENOVATION: BLENDING COMFORT AND MODERNITY

After 36 years in operation, the Rhodos gondola will undergo a major upgrade starting spring 2025, combining comfort, performance, and sustainable commitment.

New POMA Diamond cabins: 8 seats or 10 standing, offering more space and comfort.

Technical modernisation: mechanical overhaul of stations and full replacement of electrical systems.

Architectural renovation: departure and mid-stations modernised in 2025, arrival station in 2026.

Investment of €10 million (excl. VAT) by Méribel Alpina for this key project.

Serving the Rond-Point and Altiport sectors — popular with families, beginners and ski schools — this major lift will soon offer smoother, more enjoyable, and energy-efficient travel. A strong choice favouring renovation over new construction, aligned with the resort’s environmental values.
