CHEZ PEPE NICOLAS, A LIVING MOUNTAIN PASTURE EXPERIENCE

A working mountain pasture farm

At an altitude of 2,000 metres, between Les Menuires and Val Thorens, Chez Pepe Nicolas brings together a mountain pasture farm, a restaurant and a permaculture garden. In summer, the chalet follows the rhythm of the animals, goat milking and work in the garden.

The story of this special place began in 1957, when Nicolas Jay acquired the La Chasse mountain pasture to take his cows there for the summer grazing season. Today, his great-grandchildren continue this family story through:

The mountain pasture farm, home to goats, cows and farmyard animals

The restaurant, whose dishes feature produce from the garden, the mountain pasture and local producers

The high-altitude garden, where flowers, aromatic plants, fruit and vegetables grow at 2,000 metres

Visits and activities in tune with mountain pasture life

Children and adults alike can discover daily life on the farm, its animals and the know-how passed down through the generations:

Visit the mountain pasture to meet the animals and discover traditional cheese-making

Explore the permaculture garden and its crops adapted to high-altitude conditions

Watch the goats being milked by hand alongside the mountain pasture farmers

Feed the animals or take part in the Little Farmers workshop

Share an evening around the campfire dedicated to mountain life

Goat milking and garden visits are available to restaurant guests or by reservation.
