UNIQUE EXPERIENCES BETWEEN SKI AND ARGENTINIAN CULTURE

The spirit of the Andes:

Far from the European crowds, the village of Las Leñas has an authentic, welcoming feel. Its bars and restaurants, often buzzing with Argentinian skiers from Buenos Aires, serve up a varied culinary scene, with Argentinian, Italian and French specialities. The après-ski scene is known for its lively atmosphere, with a casino in the Hotel Piscis and clubs open late into the night. Here, life unfolds on Argentinian time: sharing a glass of Malbec, enjoying a parrilla with friends, and putting the world to rights by the fireside.

Magnificent panoramas and an untamed immersion:

Let yourself be swept away by the scale of the Andes, where untouched peaks rise to over 4,000 metres above sea level. In winter, Las Leñas becomes a spectacular white desert, revealing striking natural scenery such as Pozo de las Ánimas and the frozen lake of Niña Encantada. Here, the feeling of isolation is complete: you ski in the heart of raw, unspoilt nature, where every turn becomes a suspended moment set against the immensity of the Andes.

PLAN YOUR TRIP

The most common route is to fly to Buenos Aires, then continue to Mendoza or San Rafael by plane or coach. From either of these two cities, you have two options:

By coach: several companies run daily services. Journey time is around 6 hours 30 minutes from Mendoza and around 3 hours from San Rafael.

By car, either with a rental vehicle or a private driver.

The easiest and most affordable option is still the coach.

Best time to go: powder conditions are usually at their best in August, though the season runs from June to September. Be prepared for strong winds in July, which can lead to some lifts closing.

Equipment: because of the altitude and the lack of tree cover, make sure you bring warm clothing and goggles suited to windy conditions. For off-piste skiing, take avalanche safety equipment (transceiver, shovel and probe), and consider hiring a guide.

Accommodation: the resort offers six hotels and five apartment residences, from simple places to stay to luxury options with a spa. Book early, as the resort is remote and availability is limited.
